50 Year Anniversary of Neil Armstrong Landing On the Moon - Remembered Daily at Notre Dame

Terry O'Malley
50 years ago today the USA took off to  land a man on the moon – Watching the actual landing, Athol Murray was so enthused that he said this accomplishment needs to be recognized on the ND Campus – So he convinced Board of Regents member, Joe Ashley of Newfoundland, to finance the bronze doors for the Church of St. Augustine – so voila! – there is the one bronze door showing the effort of man to understand space from Galileo to landing on the moon beside the story of Christianity from Adam/Eve to the descent of the Holy Spirit.

It all reflects the idea of behind Father Murray's education called Christian humanism – an achievement under God
