2021 President's Cup, President's List & Award of Distinction Announced

President’s List:

With input from our programming staff (teachers, house parents, coaches), the President’s List is awarded to the Hounds who contributed to Notre Dame, above and beyond, in the areas of academics, athletics, the spiritual and Community and boarding life.

All students must be on the academic honour roll, have played on a Notre Dame team in each year while at Notre Dame, contributed significantly in either Hounds for Humanity, Works of Mercy, SRC and student activities and have shown servant leadership. All years of a student’s time at Notre Dame were considered.

President Cup Recipients:

The top four male nominees for the President’s Cup, in alphabetical order, are, please stand when I call your name and remain standing: Kevin Anderson, Maxwell Joy, Philip Palmarin and John Verity. Now you may be seated.
 
This year’s recipient is:
  • A House leader
  • Member of our Junior A Hounds hockey team
  • A three-year Hound
  • A Drummer
  • Aliturgical lector and usher
  • A top academic debater
  • A top academic scholar, in fact, he is top of the honour roll
  • Dedicated to his fitness training and also assists with coaching our other Notre Dame goalies.
  • Played Notre Dame baseball
  • Top leader with SRC, running many events such as PS 4 tourney, outdoor roller hockey tourney and ensuring the participants got prizes (with candy)
  • His house parent states, “John is an exemplary student and person, who shows initiative and leadership in our community. He is passionate, caring and demonstrates a friendly attitude toward others. It is amazing to me to witness the respect Johnathan has from his peers as well as our staff.
  • His hockey coach adds, “John is trustworthy, willing to give a straight answer and would do anything for the campus to make it an awesome place, he is the true definition of a Hound”

This year’s recipient is:
  • A four-year Hound
  • A top Honour roll student
  • Academically, she is a highly succinct and creative writer
  • A community House leader
  • A leader with our SRC
  • A leader with Hounds for Humanity
  • A liturgical lector
  • Was an MC for one of our student assemblies
  • A member of our soccer, volleyball and AA Hounds Hockey team and was one of the Assistant captains on that team
  • A high-performance softball athlete
  • A proficient Ukrainian dancer
  • One of our staff members states, “Katya has blossomed into an exemplary leader in all aspects of Notre Dame life. Her work ethic in the classroom and in sport is exceptional…new players on any team she has been on have gravitated toward her welcoming attitude. Older Hounds respect her for her dedication and commitment. She thinks of others often while never compromising her sense of self. She can be trusted in all situations to do the right thing.
