Intern/Volunteer Hockey Coach

Are you passionate about Hockey and helping young athletes develop? We are accepting applications for volunteer Hockey Coaches for the 2022/2023 hockey season.
Do you have what it takes to demonstrate your passion for the sport? Can you motivate, lead and be responsible for your team? Our coaches are role models for our young athletes and as such must exemplify honest and ethical behaviours to maintain the integrity of the College and our hockey program. If this sounds like you then we need to talk!

This position would be responsible for working with our student athletes to help them develop to their fullest potential. This is accomplished by providing feedback in the gym, on and off the ice and using technology to support observations through the use of video as well as key metric analysis.
Core duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Active involvement in game and practice preparation, bench duties, off-ice workout monitoring
  • Assist with on and off ice skill development
  • Provide feedback to players and other coaches
  • Participation in team and department meetings
  • Create / review weekly recaps / highlights and gathering of data for metric analysis
  • Support the direction and management of the team while contributing to the overall development of the team and individual players.
  • Summarize performance data: overall team, individual players, last-X-games, period by period, special teams, etc.
    What we need from you?
    • A passion for hockey and helping players develop their fullest potential
    • 1-2 years’ experience as a Hockey Coach; HP1 coaching is considered an asset
    • Ability to establish good working relationships with players and staff
    • Efficient data collection and ability to summarize performance data
    • Valid driver’s license and clean criminal records check with vulnerable sector search
    • Proof of double vaccination as per school policy
    • Ability to be present for young athletes and to guide them on their path
    • Ability and willingness to travel
    What we are able to offer
    • Room and board during the hockey season will be made available
    • Meals at Varsity Hall are also included during the hockey season
    • Team travel costs will be covered
    • A stipend to show our thanks for your participation will be granted
