PSAT

Grade 11 students will have the opportunity to write the PSAT on the morning of Wednesday, October 13th. We believe that the experience of writing such a standardized test is a valuable one for all our students who plan on writing the SAT or ACT in grade 12.

By participating in the PSAT, you will gain important insights into your strengths and challenges in reading, mathematics, and writing. You will also be able to judge your aptitude for writing standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT—assessments which may have a significant impact on your future plans.

If you are planning on attending an American university or college, the PSAT is a great way to practice for the SAT. The cost of taking the test is $25 American which will be charged to your account and it will take 3 hours to write.

1) To Practice for the SAT

2) To received feedback on your strengths and weaknesses in the areas of critical reading, writing and math.

3) To see how your performance measures up with those of your peers

Critical Reading (2 sections, 25 minutes each)

48 Questions, all multiple choice

13 Sentence completions

35 Critical reading questions

Mathematics (2 sections, 25 minutes each)

38 questions 28 multiple choice

10 grid-in answers

*A calculator is allowed on the math sections PSAT

 

Writing (1 section, 30 minutes)

39 questions, all multiple choice

14 identifying sentence errors

20 improving sentences

5 improving paragraphs
