President Rob Palmarin and Principal Kate MacLean, on behalf of Gerry Maier ’46, Notre Dame’s Chancellor, presented the student body with a book titled the “The Wisdom of the Cree of Canada”. Students Summer Littlechild and Landon Crier-Wagner received the book on behalf of the Hounds.
Gerry Maier has been a key promoter of Fr. Murray’s idea of a balanced education – Mind, Body and Spirit. Over the years as the President of Trans Canada Pipelines, Gerry has worked with First Nations, Aboriginal and Indigenous peoples and has developed a deep respect for their oral history. This book, the “The Wisdom of the Cree of Canada” was a project that Gerry assisted in producing and promoting. The book is an excellent resource as it brings a part of the Cree history, tradition and wisdom to print and is now available for our Notre Dame students.
Notre Dame is most grateful for Gerry Maier’s ongoing support of the College and is especially thankful for making this “one of a kind” resource available to our students.
