 It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished Dad, John Francis Weisshaar in his 91st year on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.  He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Roseline, his daughters Letty (Brent) and Joan (Don),  his grandchildren Jaret (Courtney), Jesse (Arissa), Kalyn (Devin), Cole and Dillan, Frank and Nikki, and his great granddaughters, Brooklyn and Sienna.  He was very close to his nieces and nephews, Karen (John), Mark (Sandie), Anthony (Taya), Kathryn (Paul), Paul (Wendy), Barry (Gwen), Louise (Ralph), Troy (Kim), Trent (Josie), Leanne (Stewart), Kevin (Kim), Michelle (Blaine), Tanya (Matt).  He is predeceased by siblings Carl and MaryAnn and is survived by his sister Teresa and brother-in-law Wayne, countless extended family and many cherished friends.  He is predeceased by in-laws Carl and Anna, Marlene and Erna, nephew Glen. John was born in Wilcox, Saskatchewan on Valentine’s Day 1927.  He grew up in the farming community and together with his father, Carl Sr. and brother Carl were dedicated and successful grain farmers, well respected by all.  Dad and Carl farmed together their whole lives. John was a leader and a pillar in the community serving on many councils and community boards throughout his life.  He was very passionate about the game of hockey, as a player and as a coach and manager.  He has been inducted into the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Hall of Fame and the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame. John attended Athol Murray College of Notre Dame throughout his life.  He was involved with many hockey teams in his later life and he was fiercely proud of that.  He loved young people and he loved the game in every way. His legacy is most evident in the love and closeness shared by his family and friends.  He was well loved by all.  He left an impression on many lives and we are all grateful for his love, guidance and friendship. He will be very missed. The service will be held at ST. MARTIN OF TOURS CHURCH located at 513 Ennis Road in Ennismore, Ontario on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11 a.m.  There will be a reception and celebration to follow in parish hall for all to enjoy.  In lieu of flowers and if so desired, please make a donation to Athol Murray College of Notre Dame.
