Burke Hired as ND Teacher and High School Boys Basketball Coach
The College is happy to announce Navanga Burke as our Teacher and High School Boys Basketball Coach. Navanga will begin his new position in August.
Navanga comes to us from Gateway School in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, were he has taught middle years, since 2015. Prior to Meadow Lake, Navanga taught at Clearwater River Dene School in Clearwater Rivers, Saskatchewan. Navanga is a graduate of Brock University with a degree in Social Sciences, followed by a Degree in Education from Redeemer University in Ancaster, Ontario. Currently Navanga is working towards his Master’s Degree in Physical Education & Administration from Memorial University and is set to graduate in the fall of 2018.
This past basketball season, Navanga was the head basketball coach at Carpenter High School Meadow Lake, where he coached the team to a 56-28 record over 3 years. Navanga is currently with Basketball Saskatchewan Inc. as the head coach of the U15 provincial travel team, a role he has had since 2015. During his spare time Navanga runs the Rise Above Basketball Academy for U15 Boys and Girls. Besides coaching, Navanga’s primary role is assisting with coach development, developing innovative techniques for player development and running skills camps. Prior to his coaching career, Navanga was a member of the 2008 Brock University Badgers USport National Championship Team.
