A Prayer For Mother's Day 2003

A PRAYER FOR MOTHER'S Day 2003

O Lord, we understand you couldn't be everywhere and,

thus, you gave us Mothers. Extra special humans, on earth,

who carry what seems to be a series of crosses in the

developing years of their children's lives.

Give them strength and renewed vigour now as you have

so benevolently done throughout history.

As we approach this Mother's Day, bless and distribute

your shining love on all mothers around the world. In every

nook and cranny of your global village.

Help mothers and grandmothers as we honour their origins

and spectacular presence in our individual lives.

We thank you for their servitude to families. Their patience in

teething times. Their wisdom and consolation acting as a balm

in our comings and goings.

Their care and understanding in loosening the ligatures that

seem to tighten as we dash headlong, often, weary into our

working weeks.

We thank you, also, for a mother's beaming smile even when

others in our association see nothing but drizzle and rain

shadowing upcoming events.

Lord, keep mothers constant in their inherent admiration and

deep knowledge about the goodness that resides within us all.

No matter how our mothers age, or wherever they dwell,

know-- that you know-- mothers watch lovingly for us. As eagerly

as a mother eagle lingers over its newborn in a spring nest, for

persistent improvement that we too can sail independently and

judiciously into the future.

We praise you, in this prayer, for

a mother's resilience in faith which you so richly generate through

the electricity of their temporal wings and radiant love that

showers such kindness on our on-going lives.

Amen.
