The Kirk Paul Story

The following verse, by Ms. Pam Hahn, is dedicated to the 33rd Annual KIBIHT Grand Champion Runners Up, the Notre Dame Baumuller/Power Bantam AAA Hounds and most sincerely to Kirk Paul #3.

Character is formed,

through adversity.

Courage is learned,

through fear.

Through all this,

came the Hounds of Notre Dame

A Brother fallen,

the caring family becomes larger.

Those that came forward to make a difference,

saved our brother's life.

The horror, the fear, the victories, the joy...

These were the teachers and the lessons their gift.

Our character formed, our courage learned.

Today we are grateful.

We are the Hounds of Notre Dame.

With love, admiration and respect,

Pam Hahn

During the week of April 11th to April the 16th, the bantam AAA hounds took part in the Kamloops International Bantam Ice Hockey Tournament. The tournament was a great success with the team entering the finals.

Our school motto "Struggle and Emerge" was exemplified through the team's efforts. The Hounds played with the heart and desire of many of our past great teams wearing the red and white.

During our journey to the finals, one of our Hounds suffered a life threatening injury. After being struck in the neck, his jugular vein was severed. With the exceptional assistance of those who came forward; Ms. Pam Hahn a registered nurse and mother of player Chris Hahn, Dr. Norman Hill, and Mr. Jerry Stalzer with the Saint John's Ambulance Corp, the coaching staff was able to stabilize and contain the situation until the ambulance arrived.

Although the team was shaken by the incident, they rallied around their team mate and proceeded to make the finals for the first time since 1990. Although the Hounds played hard, they finished with a 2 - 0 loss. However, the Hounds real victory was the full recovery of their injured teammate.
