Development - Donor Recognition

Throughout its history Notre Dame has had to rely on donations to help defray the cost of operations and provide facilities. This dependence on friends and alumni will not change, and Notre Dame will take special care to ensure its supporters are properly recognized, and that our students are made aware of their benefactors. A supplementary component of the Notre Dame education is a short historical review of the donors, their achievements, and their contributions to the school. With your permission, your contribution will be noted so the school and its students may properly acknowledge your assistance.

Some donors request anonymity, while others ask that their donations be applied in very specific ways. Notre Dame strictly complies with such requests, as it is able to accommodate a variety of donor needs. We also encourage permanent donor recognition on campus in the form of naming of rooms, buildings, etc.

Notre Dame has established a Foundation governed by an independent Board of Directors, to ensure all donations are applied in accordance with the donor’s wishes. The distribution of funds is monitored carefully, professionally invested and audited. Donors may direct their bursaries to students from a particular geographic area or sector, such as children of employees, etc.
