Development - Gifts In Kind

In addition to cash donations, the College is able to accept real property. These types of donations are referred to as Gifts in Kind. Examples of Gifts in Kind include stocks, bonds, artwork, sculptures, houses, cabins, land, cultural property, books, collections and other assets. The donor will receive a receipt for the fair market value of the gift.

The donation of a Gift in Kind to the College is deemed, for tax purposes, to be a disposition. Therefore, it is necessary for the donor to consult with a tax advisor regarding the method of transfer that will maximize his/her benefits.
