| Max Bell Hall | back to Boarding Life |

In 1968, two brick and mortar residences were built to accommodate male residential students at Notre Dame College. The wooden shacks used to house students prior to this time were no longer needed, and with their demise, came an end to the much publicized name, Shack College. Frederick W. Hill Hall and Max Bell Hall are now joined with a common area known as the 'link'. In 1987, four family homes were added for house parent staff families. Max Bell Hall originally accommodated Arts students in-residence. It presently houses 68 male students in the Gunner House. Another well-known Canadian friend and Notre Dame benefactor, Max Bell, was honoured by Père in the naming of this residence.
